what's a brand?

FORMING A DISTINCTION BETWEEN PRODUCTS AND SELLERS

In todays terms, a good, strong brand should conjure an immediate recognition of a product or service. Branding began as a way to tell one person's cattle from another by means of a hot iron stamp.

A strong brand is basically a label, an identity which announces your presence and is indicative of the business you are in. It can offer security, inspire confidence, infer socio-economic status. Ultimately it can make a brand user feel extremely proud.

A brand and logo should ooze an uncanny 'can't quite put my finger on it' familiarity to the average person on the street, or at least it should do. Brands become established over time and with accompanying reputations (good and bad!). The power of a brand can symbolise a very particular service and/or product range. Imagine not being able to call your vacuum cleaner a Hoover for instance!

There is a lot more to it than just having an easily recognised image. A brand employs the subtle use of colour psychology and historical cues by means of particular typefaces or textures which are utilised.

Brand and logo identity plays with people's visual and mental perception and a logo, icon or ident can become committed to
memory quite easily if it is impactful enough.

Big advertising and design agencies charge huge amounts of money to create big name brands. Design Advantage can offer the same brand making services at the same high quality execution for a fraction of the cost!  It does not matter whether you are already established, or just about to venture out into the exciting world of business - we can tailor a brand and identity for your company to help ensure your success and longevity.
